Treatment & Rehabilitation Training Bursary

The Education and Training Bursary fund is promoted by the Dublin North East Drugs Task Force and managed by the Treatment & Rehabilitation Sub-committee.

Purpose of Scheme:

To support recovering drug misusers attend vocational training & accredited courses to aid their personal progress towards employment or rehabilitation. Funding for staff is not available.

Criteria for funding:

1. The Education & Training bursary fund is available to people currently living in the Dublin North East Drugs Task Force catchment area.

2. The fund is available to support rehabilitation participants only. Clients of a treatment clinic applications will be subject to means.

3. Our guidelines state that the applicant must be in recovery less than 5 years.

4. An application must  be forwarded and approved before the client accepts a place on a choosen course. If unsure, please contact this office. Approvals take place at the next planned meeting of the DNEDTF Treatment & Rehabilitation meeting.

5. The amount of funding offered will depend on:

  •   The overall cost of the course.
  • The information provided by the applicant in relation to his/her means.
  • The amount of funding available to the sub-committee.

6. Applicants must supply information in relation to any difficulties back to the Task Force.

7. Original results of any examinations taken must be forwarded to this office at the end of each academic year before any consideration will be given to further funding requests.

8. TheTask Force must be notified if any particiapnt in receipt of funding:

  •   Completes a course of study anf gains a qualification.
  • Fails to complete a course of study.

9. Only one funding application per year may be accepted form the same client.

10. Approved funding is based on information in relation to current academic year. If a course runs for more that one year, another application will be required and funding is not guaranteed.    

11. The fund may not be used for capital equipment.

12. Applications must be submitted on the approved application form by the last Firday of each month.

Click on the area nearest you for details of the projects approved to support applications. Forms not supported by a project manager will not ne processed.
